Posted: Updated:

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom laid out his vision for California as the gubernatorial candidate held a town-hall meeting at Clairemont High School Saturday night.

The meeting was the 18th in a series Newsom's campaign is calling "Conversations About California's Future."

Earlier Saturday, Newsom participated in the 35th annual LGBT Pride parade in San Diego.

The Democrat said the state needs new leadership and new ideas-ideas he can provide. Newsom, who has more than a year to go in his term as mayor, spoke on the topics of reform, universal health care and the current economy.

Newsom will be in Los Angeles next week continuing his campaign.
