San Diegans are successfully rising to the challenge when it comes to saving water.
Mayor Jerry Sanders announced Tuesday that water use was down more than 11 percent in August compared to the same time last year.
Sanders also noted that the drop is a "remarkable achievement" considering how hot it was last month and how little it rained, saying this proves "yet again San Diegans are serious about saving water."
The city declared a Level Two drought alert in June and issued mandatory water restrictions.
Mayor Sanders said that the drought is not over yet and continues to urge everyone to continue to look for ways to save water.
