Chargers give 1,000 pairs of shoes to school children

Posted: Updated:
Tuesday the Chargers held its 21st Annual Back-to-School Shoe Giveaway.

One-thousand pairs of shoes were given to elementary school children at four different Payless ShoeSource stores.

Chargers players even helped the kids pick out their new kicks. They say it was a rewarding experience for them as well.

"It's fun. You see a ton of different personalities. You know, some of these kids have exactly in mind what they want and some kind of like you to kind of lead the way, but it's a lot of fun seeing the excitement on their face to get a new pair of shoes," said Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.

The shoe giveaway was paid for by Chargers President Dean Spanos and Payless ShoeSource.
