VISTA, Calif. (CNS) - A 47-year-old North County music teacher was behind bars today for allegedly molesting several underage girls who took lessons from him in recent years, a sheriff's official said today.
Mark Lewis Kinney of Santa Ysabel was arrested at his Springview Road home Tuesday and booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of committing lewd acts with minors and taking pornographic photos and videos of them, Sgt. Jim Walker said.
Kinney, a pianist and drummer who operates a music studio in Ramona and teaches private lessons throughout the county, allegedly took advantage of his "position of trust" with girls younger than 14, according to Walker. The sergeant declined to specify their ages or the number of purported victims in the case, other than to say there were "less than five."
The sheriff's Child Abuse Unit has been investigating the allegations for about three months, Walker said.
