Online help for workout resolutions

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Making New Year's resolutions is easy. Keeping them is the hard part. If you aim to work out more and lose weight next year, a Pacific Beach man can help.

"If you're one of the thousands of people who overindulged in 2009 and getting back into those skinny jeans is a goal for 2010, you now have some online help. Fit-2gether.com is a new website that's already getting San Diegans on the fast-track to fitness.

"You can kind of think of it as a Facebook, but for fitness," Fit-2gether.com CEO Scott Bowen said.

Fit-2getner.com is a new social networking website for the fitness minded. Founder Bowen says it's perfect for those New Year's resolutioners who want to get into shape, but lack motivation after a couple months at the gym.

"There are live chat boards that you can go to, we have resident health experts, people who have Masters in nutrition, physical trainers and that type of stuff that you can go to online and get help from these people online so they can help you achieve your fitness goals in the New Year," he said.

It's free to sign up, and easy to use. Just create your online profile, check the activities you're interested in, and you're instantly connected to people who will help keep you on track. It's a site Michael Bascon has been using for three months, and is already seeing big results.

"Fit-2gether actually holds more accountable to complete those goals because I find other people that share the same goals as me and we can do it together," Bascon said.

Pilates instructor Samantha Pfeiffer is another active member on the site and says she's seen a significant increase in clientele.

"I offer a free intro session, so a lot of people have hit me up saying they want to try out Pilates that way," she said.

With 3,000 members strong and more than 70,000 hits per month, the site promises to give you the skinny on everything health, wellness and fitness, so next year your resolution won't be to get off the couch.
