Amalfi Mobile Wood-Fired Pizza: Pizza on the premises

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Roll out some fresh dough, add some homemade sauce and just about any other ingredients your heart desires and pop it into an 850-degree wood-fired oven. In a matter of minutes you'll have piping hot gourmet pizza. Where, you ask? Anywhere you want it.

"Everyone asks me where our restaurant is and we say, 'At your place,'" Barry Rosenblatt said.

At Amalfi Wood-Fired Mobile Pizzeria, their motto is, "Have oven, will travel."

"The thing that's different about us is that we make all of our stuff on site," Barry said.

Amalfi's oak-fueled oven blazes at about 850 degrees.

"We can cook multiple pizzas in three to four minutes," Barry said.

Amalfi's can also cater to any occasion.

"We do street fairs, we do corporate lunches, parties," Barry said. "Our parties are generally unlimited pizza, gourmet pizzas and salads. We also can bring drinks, dessert pizzas too," Barry said.

Amalfi's can put almost anything on a pie to suit your pizza pleasing palate, including some of their original outside-the-box creations.

So what did my feckless, freeloading, wonderful workmates think of these wood-fired treats?

"That was so good I'm coming for seconds," one taster said.

We're all fired up for the mobile pizza truck.

In 2006, the city of San Diego began allowing political campaigns to electronically file their financial reports, giving the public easy access to information on money in city politics. The county of San Diego wasn’t as quick to make the same kind of information available and continues to lag behind the city’s efforts.
