Weekdays, 5AM, 6AM & 11am

Natasha tries to have fun with the weather. "After all, it's supposed to be easy and uneventful in San Diego as many believe."

News 8 meteorologist Natasha Stenbock has worked hard at honing her skills.  "I spent several years studying atmospheric science so that I could become a broadcast meteorologist.  One of the reasons I decided to get into the business of weather forecasting was to understand turbulence and know when to expect it in flight."
A passion, in addition to weather, is flying the San Diego skies. Natasha earned her private pilot license in Sept. '08.  She is a proud member of the San Diego 99's.

Oddly enough, she had a fear of flying for a brief period, even though she grew up cruising the Pacific Northwest in a small plane. "It wasn't until I started learning about weather patterns that I could take a commercial flight without grabbing a stranger's arm. Yes, I was an arm grabber." Since then she has turned her fear into her favorite hobby.  She wants to spend more time flying aerobatics, earn her instrument rating and tailwheel endorsement.
If Natasha can't be in the air, she likes to spend time underwater volunteering for Birch Aquarium at Scripps.  You'll find her in the giant kelp tank. "I get to hang out with all of the local fish, a few sharks, and three very friendly eels. When I'm not vacuuming, I'm giving an underwater narration with a communications mask."
Before she moved to Southern California, she spent most of her life landlocked in Oregon and in northern California.  She left the suburbs of Sacramento shortly after high school.  "I found Malibu and the heavens opened up, ahhhhh. Thanks Mom and Dad!"  She graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Telecommunications-Broadcasting.  She continued her education in broadcast meteorology through Mississippi State University and SDSU, and is awaiting the AMS seal of approval.
Immediately following Pepperdine, Natasha stayed in the Los Angeles area for a bit before moving south to San Diego. It was here that she began her media career as a radio reporter, delivering the latest news, weather, and traffic.
Natasha got her first TV job as a General Assignment Reporter at KRCR-TV in Redding, California. It didn't take long to combine her fascination with weather and fresh broadcasting experience to become KGET-TV's Reporter/Weather Anchor in Bakersfield. Next, Natasha traveled back to San Diego and joined the News 8 team.
You can watch Natasha's forecasts from 5-9am and again at 11am on News 8.  You can also find read about her in San Diego Magazine (Best of June '06), Ranch and Coast (June '06), and Pacific San Diego (Dec.'08).
