SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors say a former El Modena High School student has admitted demanding money and pornographic photos from a teacher accused of having sex with a current student.
Twenty-3-year-old Miguel Lopez pleaded guilty to felony extortion and was sentenced Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court to three years of informal probation.
Prosecutors say Lopez learned of an alleged relationship between 30-year-old band teacher Carlie Attebury and a 15-year-old student and used a fake MySpace account to extort $3,500 and photos out of Attebury.
Investigators found the images on his computer when he was arrested last year.
Attebury is awaiting trial on charges of having sex with a teenage boy and trying to dissuade him from cooperating with investigators.
