Some dog lovers at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach demonstrated against quarterback Michael Vick, who served time for organizing dog fights, as his Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Chargers 31-23 at Qualcomm.
Some of the protesters created "pee poles" with Vick's name attached that could be driven into the sand and allow dogs to pay their respects.
Before signing with the Eagles, Vick pleaded guilty to dog-fighting conspiracy and served time in federal prison.
Vick threw an incomplete pass in limited action. He is mainly a backup to starting quarterback Donovan McNabb.
The Chargers' win put them in a tie for first place with the Denver Broncos in the AFC West.
The creator of the pee pole told News 8 she might make some with the Oakland Raiders' name on them.
News 8’s Doug Kolk has the complete story from Dog Beach in this video.
