Police arrest son for murder of Solana Beach woman

Posted: Updated:

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (CBS 8) – The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said the adult son of a woman found dead in her Solana Beach home was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Bryan Chenhua Chang, 28, was taken into custody without incident at his Los Angeles home Wednesday night in connection with the death of Sherry Chu Chang, Lt. Dennis Brugos said.

The 60-year-old victim had signs of substantial trauma on her body when it was found Monday at her home on Santa Florencia near San Elijo Lagoon, Brugos said.

Sheriff's officials asked for autopsy information to be sealed, according to an investigator with the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

A worried co-worker at Poway-based WASSCO, which sells industrial products, went to the woman's residence when she failed to show up for her job Saturday and Monday, and then had deputies check the house.

Brugos said no motive has been established for the crime, but no other suspects were being sought.
