Updated Evacuation Help In El Cajon

The El Cajon Animal Shelter, located at 1275 North  Marshall, will be open to receive domestic pets and small livestock animals for emergency boarding.  Donations of cat and dog food (canned), blankets and towels are welcomed for those wishing to help.

The new Home Depot location at 298 Fletcher Parkway, scheduled to open in mid November, have opened a section of their parking lot to large livestock, RV’s & Campers.  They also have water available there and port-a-potties available leftover from the construction of the new store.

Note: Donations of plastic or folding chairs have been requested for evacuees. If you can help please take them to the new Home Depot location.  

The Westfield Parkway mall, at 415 Parkway Plaza, has opened the Northwest section of their mall parking lot for RV’s and campers.    

Granite  Hills High  School, located at 1719 E. Madison Avenue has opened their parking lots only for large livestock, RV’s and campers.

Due to poor air quality alerts schools remain closed in the City of El Cajon.

CERT Team members are welcome to help if they’re available at the evacuation areas, especially if they are experienced in the handling of large livestock.

FYI - Gillespie Field is again acting as a base camp for CALFIRE operations.  As part of this effort we will be temporarily closing Airport Drive between Joe Crosson Drive and Wing Avenue for use by fire service vehicles.  Closure planned to be in effect from 5pm, October 22, 2007 for two weeks until 5pm, Monday, Nov 5, 2007.
