President Obama Continues SoCal Town Hall Meetings

Posted: Updated:

President Obama joins forces with Governor Schwarzenegger on day two of his trip to Southern California.

Treading in red territory, President Barack Obama continues to make his rounds in Southern California, making it clear that there is support for his stimulus package among republicans. One of those republicans is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He plans to join Mr. Obama at a town hall meeting in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, which is likely to be reminiscent of Wednesday's gathering in Orange County.

More than 2,000 people showed up, not only to support the president's first visit to California since being elected, but to get some answers.

Mr. Obama fielded questions and frustrations regarding California's double-digit unemployment rate, the post-bailout bonuses paid to AIG executives and the mortgage crisis - much of which is based in the south land.

Schwarzenegger and the president will discuss how the stimulus money will help the state with the idea that if the government can fix California the rest of the country will fall in place.

As of January, California's unemployment rate is at 10.1 percent.

One in five construction jobs have been lost since 2007 and housing prices have declined more than a quarter since their peak in 2006.
