Posted: Updated:

A teenage boy with a BB gun was arrested Thursday after someone reported seeing him shooting a firearm on the grounds of an East County primary school, a sheriff's lieutenant reported.

Someone reported seeing shots fired at Crest Elementary School on Suncrest Boulevard about 2:45 p.m., Lt. Sylvester Washington said.

Administrators kept all students and teachers inside their classrooms and offices while deputies searched the school grounds and surrounding areas.

About 4:15 p.m., deputies arrested the suspected shooter -- a boy of about 14, who was caught carrying a BB gun in the area, according to Washington.

No injuries were reported. Washington said he did not know if the boy caused any damage.
