Ex-CHP Officer Charged With Fixing Ticket For Sex

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego County prosecutors say a former California Highway Patrol officer fixed a woman's speeding ticket in exchange for sexual favors.

The district attorney's office charged Abram Carabajal on Tuesday with perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice and accepting a bribe. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the three felony counts.

Prosecutors say Carabajal lied when he told a judge he did not receive a subpoena to discuss the disputed ticket, leading the court to dismiss the ticket.

The woman later told investigators the two had sex at a hotel right after the court hearing. She faces similar charges and will be arraigned April 13.

Carabajal was being arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
