Haircut for a Cause to Help Women with Cancer

Posted: Updated:
For many cancer patients, hair loss is one of the most emotional aspects of chemotherapy treatment.

But students at Del Mar's Cathedral Catholic High School are hoping to make things a little easier. They organized a hair-cutting event Sunday that will help make wigs for cancer patients.

According to hair-product manufacture Pantene, more than 60 percent of women said that losing their hair is one of the biggest downfalls of having cancer. Many cannot afford to buy a human-hair wig; wigs can cost up to $1,200 and is usually only partially covered by insurance.

Pantene has partnered with the American Cancer Society to make sure donations can be made to help women in need through its BeautifulLengths.com Web site.
