Pistachio Recall

Posted: Updated:
Baker's Supermarkets and their parent company Kroger are recalling two batches of the grocery chain's Private Selection shelled pistachios. The pistachios have been sold in 31 states where Kroger operates stores.

The recalled pistachios were sold in 10-ounce containers with a "sell by" date of DEC-13-09 and DEC-14-09. The UPC code is 11110 73615. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product, according to a news release issued by Kroger.

The pistachios were recalled when Kroger's supplier, Setton Farms of Terra Bella, Calif., announced that the nuts may be contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.

Customers who purchased the pistachios should not consume them and should return them to a store for a refund.
