No Pay Raise for Mayor, City Council Members

San Diego city council members and Mayor Jerry Sanders will not be getting a pay raise.

The council voted down a pay hike proposed by the city's Salary Setting Commission. The council cited the economy and the city's $60 million budget deficit.

Under the commission's proposal, council members' salaries could have jumped from $75,000 to $125,000. The mayor's salary could have jumped from $100,000 to $150,000.

    Two local political groups called today on San Diego Unified School Board District B Trustee Kevin Beiser to resign, and the county Democratic Party was mulling whether to do the same, in response to allegations that he sexually abused a local political consultant from 2013 to 2018.
