Mission Hills Gas Leak That Prompted Evacuations Now Repaired

Posted: Updated:

A gas leak has been repaired in Mission Hills after a pipeline rupture by a construction crew shut off the gas for four hours and forced some evacuations.

The pipeline rupture was located near Ibis and West Lewis streets. A nearby school and church were evacuated and surrounding streets were blocked.

It took San Diego Gas & Electric crews hours to fix the line. According to San Diego Fire-Rescue officials, the weather helped the situation from becoming much worse.

The company that accidentally broke the line said the pipe was not marked, and that their company is not to blame.
