San Diego residents could soon be paying for their trash pick-up. A grand jury says there's no reason why the $53 million a year cost should be placed on the city.
As it stands now, 60 percent of San Diego households don't pay for garbage service.
The service would run about $10.60 a month per household.
Some san Diegans see the change as a way to help bridge the city's projected $60 million budget shortfall.
The city must respond to the grand jury's report within 90 days.
