ATM Stolen From Air And Space Museum

Posted: Updated:

Thieves targeting an automated teller machine tore a door off the San Diego Air & Space Museum before dawn Tuesday as they jerked the machine from its footings with a cable secured to a vehicle, police said.

An alarm sounded at 5:12 a.m., and police arrived to find one glass door torn from its hinges and another damaged, police spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. The set of doors appeared to be one of three at the front of the building.

The culprits used a cable secured to a vehicle to pull the machine from the lobby, she said. How much money may have been in the machine was not disclosed.

Nothing else was taken, Munoz said.

It was unclear if surveillance cameras caught the action.
