Aggressive Dogs Captured Near Pauma School

Posted: Updated:

There's some relief Wednesday after the capture of three stray dogs near Pauma School.

The aggressive animals are either Chow Chows or Chow Chow mixes.

The dogs forced the school into lockdown on Monday. The County Department of Animal Services says it took traps, tranquilizers and a bean bag shotgun to catch all of the animals by Tuesday.

They're being held at a county shelter in Carlsbad.

"We have no idea who they belong to. They don't have any microchips or license on them. So they're going to be held through Saturday to see if anyone comes forward to claim them," Lt. Daniel DeSousa said.

One of the dogs charged a deputy at one point, but no one was hurt.

The dogs will become county property after Saturday if no one claims them.
