Woman Who Tried to Kill President Ford Gives First Interview

Posted: Updated:
The woman who tried to kill President Gerald Ford in 1975 is speaking for the first time since her release from prison in 2008.

Sara Jane Moore agreed to an interview with a Bay-area television station on the condition that her face be covered.

Moore spent three decades in federal prison after opening fire on President Ford at a San Francisco hotel. The bullet missed President Ford's head by several feet.

Moore's assassination attempt just 17 days after another assassination attempt on the president.

In the interview Moore said she is glad she did not succeed, but at the time thought that her act would trigger a new revolution.

Moore is now 80 years old and lives in a small town under a new name.
