The vehicle fires were determined to be suspicious, said sheriff's Sgt. David Gilmore.
Multiple callers reported two empty vehicles on fire in the 700 block of East Elder in Fallbrook around 4 a.m. Sunday, Gilmore said.
Both cars were fully engulfed in flames when deputies arrived on the scene, and a bomb arson detective was called, he said. No one was injured in the incident.
Information about the cars' makes or owners was not released by the department.
