Protesters Arrive At City Hall To Voice Grievances With Prop. 8 Ruling

Posted: Updated:
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Several hundred protesters marched from City Hall in San Francisco tonight to a downtown park to express their opposition to the state Supreme Court's decision to uphold California's gay-marriage ban.

Earlier today, police arrested more than 150 same-sex marriage backers who blocked a San Francisco street to protest the ruling upholding Proposition 8.

Protesters held signs with slogans such as, "Still Married, Still Fighting" and "Ban the marriage of church and state."

Hundreds of protesters streamed into an intersection near City Hall following the announcement of the state Supreme Court's decision this morning. Police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka says officers cited protesters for failure to obey a police officer and jaywalking.
