Family of Shooting Victim Has Message of Hope for Suspected Gunman

Posted: Updated:
Three months after Marcella Peraza was gunned down outside a party in Encanto, her family is speaking out on what would have been her 22nd birthday in hopes of bringing the suspected shooter, to justice.

While the manhunt for Christopher Sanchez, 19, continues, Peraza's family says it is important that this case has a peaceful resolution.

Peraza, then 21, was fatally shot during a birthday party on Brooklyn Avenue on March 7. A 26-year-old man was also shot, but he survived.

According to Lisa Ortiz, the death of her daughter, who was an aspiring aestatician, has been "unbearable."

San Diego police believe Sanchez is the gunman. He is still at-large, and is described as Latino, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators said Sanchez is known to hang out in Lemon Grove and Encanto, but may be hiding in Mexico.

Peraza's family said they want a peaceful resolution for Sanchez, not retaliation. And while they pray for closure, they have a message of hope for Sanchez.

"There's someone that wants to help you," Ortiz said. "You might not think there's hope, but there's still hope, there's always hope. No0 matter what you do, there's gonna be some hope."

Anyone with information about Sanchez or and his whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS.
