Central and Southern California Shaken by Weekend Earthquakes

Posted: Updated:

Californians up and down the coast were shaken by a series of earthquakes over the weekend.

A small, 3.3 magnitude earthquake rocked the Inland Empire around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. It was centered about one mile west of San Bernardino's city hall.

Police said there were no reports of damages or injuries.

The central coast was jolted by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake Saturday morning. No major damage was reported, but residents said they were caught off-guard.

The earthquake hit about nine miles northeast of Cambria, near where the San Simeon earthquake hit in 2003.

Seismologists said an aftershock from that 6.5 magnitude quake is not uncommon, even years later.
