7-Year-Old Jamon Is Eager To Find A Forever Family

Posted: Updated:

It has been eight months since News 8 first profiled a little boy named Jamon.  And in that time, he's had a birthday, has transitioned from first grade to second and has gone through Thanksgiving and Christmas, all without finding a forever family.  In this Adopt 8, read Jamon's story once again, in the hopes that a New Year brings new hope for this charismatic little boy, who is so tired of waiting and is in desperate need of finding a family to love him.

"My name is Jamon, and I like to skateboard. And it's really fun because you guys are watching this and I hope you guys have a good time," Jamon said.

It didn't take News 8's Marcella Lee long to realize six-year-old Jamon loves to express himself through words.

"I'm talking to all the people that love me," noted Jamon.

Which he's hoping will soon include a forever family.

"I hope you guys love me so much, and I like to play with puppies because they're cute. I like to hold them because they're cute and I like little puppies," Jamon added.

And, Jamon would like to live with a family that has a puppy.

During the News 8 shoot, Jamon played the role of news reporter - a challenge he was up for.

"I'm here live at Balboa Park and if you guys come here, you guys will see me."

"Hurry up and turn the TV on cuz you're gonna see me and turn it to Channel 8."

"He does seem very mature. I think that being in a group home sometimes causes kids to be mature beyond their years, but I think inside, he's got a huge heart and a great smile, and he's really gonna bring a lot of joy to a family," said a social worker.

Jamon is also a fast learner. He is in the first grade, but often works with second graders. And he needs a family to help channel all of his energy in the right direction.

"He really excels in school, sometimes it's hard to get him to be quiet and on task, but once you get him focused, he can do really well," continued the social worker. "He also likes to read, so he likes to have quiet time to himself, which is a nice balance."

During the News 8 play date at the park, Jamon was quite the tour guide. He's like a little firecracker, which is fitting because his birthday is July 4. And this little dynamo is eager to find a family who will share in all of his joy.

"I think a family that's able to set clear boundaries and then also embrace him for the things that he likes and you know that could just really love and nourish him so that he could flourish," explained the social worker.

And to that family, Jamon has this to say:

"I love you guys too!"
