Former Padre Matt Bush Sentenced In Assault Case

Posted: Updated:

Former Padres first-round draft pick Matt Bush has been sentenced to three years probation and 120 days in a sober living facility after pleading guilty to several assault charges.

Bush was charged with assaulting students at Granite Hills High School during a lacrosse practice.

He also entered a guilty plea in a separate incident of vandalism and reckless driving.

Bush was the first overall pick by the Padres in the 2004 draft out of Mission Bay High School but the Padres cut ties with him after a series of off-the-field incidents.
