"Prayers go up and Blessings come down" Yiddish Proverb
"There's a low front coming in," Kimberly King reported, over a decade ago, the last time she appeared on CBS 8. She was nearly eight months pregnant. "Every time I turned sideways I'd block the entire weather map!," King recalled about her brief stint as weekend weather anchor in 1998. A decade later, Kimberly is back with News 8 as morning and afternoon weather anchor on News 8 at 5am, 5:30am, 6am and 11am.
Kimberly "cut her teeth" as a radio traffic reporter for several local radio stations before she was hired as a television traffic reporter for NBC 7/39 San Diego. She spent time on the air and in the air and learned to navigate the freeways, sky ways, and airwaves in the studio and above. She later hosted several shows of her own including "Life Moments With Kimberly King" and "Streetside San Diego With Kimberly King." She has been honored with two Emmy Awards.
Born in Palm Springs and raised in San Diego, Kimberly attended the San Diego High School of Creative & Performing Arts (SCPA) and graduated from SDSU with a BA in Speech Communication. Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family at all San Diego sporting events, local theatre, and can most often be found on the sidelines, cheering for her two "munchkings" at their football, soccer, baseball and basketball games.
She is known for her generosity and commitment to several local non-profits, including United Cerebral Palsy, Christian Community Theatre, The Ronald McDonald House Charities, Orchestra NOVA, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Rady Children's Hospital, and The Immaculata Catholic Parish, and has hosted several events for the San Diego Police Department, CA Department of Justice and San Diego Fire/Rescue Association.
