A University City man is being held on $1 million bail Friday after pleading not guilty to bludgeoning his father to death in their home.
Prosecutors say Nikola Chivatchev, 24, hit his sleeping father with a 12-pound dumbbell Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, police were called to the La Jolla Crossroads complex, where they found the body of Chivatchev's father bludgeoned to death.
A witness said Chivatchev admitted to the killing.
He faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted.
