Motorcyclist killed in collision with bus transporting prisoners

The California Highway Patrol confirmed a motorcyclist died following a traffic collision with a bus owned by a private security firm that was transporting prisoners for U.S. Border Patrol Saturday.

The fatal crash shut down state Route 94 just east of the Tecate turnoff for several hours.

Around 10:15 a.m., the bus driver reported that the the motorcyclist cut him off right before the two vehicles collided on state Route 94, just east of state Route 188, according to the CHP dispatch report.

The motorcyclist, whose name, age and gender have not been released, died at the scene, the CHP dispatcher said.

The bus was owned by a private security firm that is under contract with U.S. Border Patrol, she said.

Traffic between Dulzura and Campo was blocked, but the road between Dulzura and Tecate remained open, the CHP said.
