Woman killed in Chollas Creek mobile home fire

Posted: Updated:
An autopsy is scheduled this week on the body of a 58-year-old woman found dead inside her burned-out mobile home in the Chollas Creek neighborhood.

The blaze was reported just before 1:40 p.m. Sunday at Leisureland Mobile Village at 1951 47th St., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It was sparked by a cigarette left in a trash can, department spokesman Maurice Luque told The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Firefighters took less than 15 minutes to put out the fire before finding the woman underneath some wall paneling, he said. Her name was withheld pending positive identification by the county coroner's office.

Damage to the mobile home and its content was estimated at $100,000.
