Richard Saldivar, the man accused of murdering a Rancho Bernardo woman in her apartment, is scheduled to be arraigned downtown Tuesday.

The victim, Jennifer Lee Jones, was on the phone with her mother in Ohio when the attack started Thursday afternoon.

Her mother alerted San Diego police to check on her daughter when the phone line went dead during their call.

Jones, 28, was found stabbed to death in her apartment in the 15000 block of Avenida Venusto about 5 p.m. Thursday.

About 10 p.m. Thursday, police found Saldivar, 40, sitting in his car with his wife and children in a parking lot just west of the victim's apartment, Rooney said. They spoke with him, then took him into custody for further questioning.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m. Friday, detectives arrested Saldivar on suspicion of murdering his neighbor.
