Motorist drives truck into wife's house; dies after ramming tree

Posted: Updated:
Authorities were investigating a Lakeside crash in which a motorist died after he apparently rammed his pickup truck into a palm tree, causing it to burst into flames.

The crash on Blossom Valley Road, near Lake Jennings Road, was reported at 10:32 p.m. Thursday, according to a Heartland fire dispatcher.

The deceased's name was withheld pending notification of his kin.

The motorist, who died at the scene, may also have been involved in another crash reported six minutes earlier, according to authorities.

At 10:26 p.m., a house fire at 8694 Via Del Luz was reported, according to the dispatcher. A man apparently drove a pickup truck into his wife's home, sparking a fire and damaging the structure.

Two people were displaced in that crash, the dispatcher said. Authorities were investigating both crashes.
