Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a car in De Anza Cove to burst into flames.

Police said one person was inside the car when it happened.

Witnesses said the flames came from inside the car.

Several people rushed to help. One person described what he saw:

"The thing was engulfed from the inside and I tried three times to break the window open and I said we're gonna do it,” the witness said.  “I don't know. The window broke open about three times, pulling his leg out, and it was pretty bad, and uh and we rolled over and set him back on my bean bag."

The person inside the car, who has not been identified, suffered second- and third-degree burns.

A rescuer was also injured and taken to a local hospital.
