Posted: Updated:

Thirteen people were displaced after a fire ripped through a Southcrest home.

The flames broke out on the 1100 block of South 43rd Street just before 3:00 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighters say the garage was fully-involved when they arrived. A back bedroom and bathroom had the most damage, but most of the house is still in tact.

Heavy equipment and a special ladder were brought in to fight the flames.

One person was taken to the hospital, but there is no word yet on the extent of their injuries.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
