Schools district asks public for help in solving budget crisis

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) -- The San Diego Unified School District is reaching out to the community for feedback as it faces an $80 million budget deficit.

The first of several town hall meetings was held Thursday night at Serra High School in Tierrasanta.

The district informed attendees of the severity of the budget crisis and discussed the possibility of drastic cuts.

The school district is encouraging parents to get familiar with the budget, which could help in the dialogue with officials to find practical solutions.
