Hundreds of homeless seek warmth and hot meal at emergency shelter

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) -- St. Vincent De Paul Village opened its emergency shelter Saturday to provide the homeless with a place to stay and a hot meal as cold and wet weather moves through the area.

The shelter, located at 1501 Imperial Avenue downtown, opened at 4 p.m. Saturday and will be open until 6 a.m. Sunday.

St. Vincent De Paul expects to serve around 200 meals to the homeless during this emergency period.
