Elderly bank robber apologizes, gets 3 years probation

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) -- A 69-year-old man is apologizing for robbing a bank and causing a bomb scare.

Michael Wilson was sentenced Monday to three years probation. He robbed a Bank of America in City Heights and claimed he had a bomb in his bag.

Wilson got away with $107,000, but was later found hiding on a porch nearby.

Wilson said what he did was stupid, but he was desperate for money as he recovers from prostate cancer and still suffers from diabetes and post-traumatic stress disorder from his time in Vietnam.
