Former Padre Marcus Giles pleads not guilty to domestic violence charges

EL CAJON, Calif. (CBS 8) - Former San Diego Padres second baseman Marcus Giles was in court Friday to answer to domestic violence charges.

Giles plead not guilty to charges he assaulted his wife in El Cajon on Oct. 7.

Marcus Giles played for the Atlanta Braves for six seasons before joining the Padres in 2007. He was released later that year.

Giles will be back in court in February.

    White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar was in stable but critical condition Saturday, a day after suffering a brain hemorrhage while in the dugout during a game.

    Tyson Ross lost his bid to pitch the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres' history when center fielder Franchy Cordero appeared to misplay a ball with two outs in the eighth inning Friday night of a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
