La Costa shopper threatened over how she parked

CARLSBAD, Calif. (CBS 8) - We have a CrimeFighters Alert involving threatening notes and a bizarre act of vandalism in the North County. One victim told News 8 she was target because of the way she parked her car.

It all began with a note on her windshield after the woman, who we'll call "Faye", returned from grocery shopping at the La Costa Albertson's.

"It says 'Warning, warning, warning. The operator of this vehicle has failed to use common sense,'" Faye said.

The note was "retribution and punitive action," all because Faye had parked her car too close to another vehicle.

"This guy's a nut. I think the guy is a little crazy," she said.

Sure enough, when Faye got home, she discovered her vehicle had a flat tire.

"What the person had done is wedged a tiny pebble in here so all the air was being let out of the tire," she said.

Faye called police, but there was nothing officers could do because the car was not damaged. Fay's just glad she didn't get on the freeway with her kids in the car.

"You can't do this to people. And while letting air out of a tire may not seem like a big deal, it's very dangerous," Faye said.

Faye wants people to keep an eye out, because in all likelihood the person responsible could strike again.

"It makes me scared that people can go this far for something that is relatively minor," she said.

Right now Carlsbad police do not have any other reports of additional cars being targeted, but officers will be keeping an eye out in the area.
