SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - A candle left burning unattended is believed to be the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a two-story apartment building and displaced residents in Golden Hill Friday, officials said.

Flames broke out around 7:00 a.m. at a complex in the 1100 block of 30th Street near B Street. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within an hour.

According to the San Diego City News Service, four families were displaced as a result of the blaze.

Fire investigators believe a burning candle that was unattended on the top floor sparked the blaze.

There were no injuries reported.
