SDSU geologist says San Diegans should be prepared for quakes

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Three straight days of measurable earthquakes in Northern California have residents wondering whether the "big One" might be next.

A 4.1 temblor hit Thursday, followed by a 3.8 quake Friday.

On Saturday, a 6.5-magnitude quake struck near Eureka, shattering store windows and sending store customers running.

SDSU geologist Dr. Pat Abbott said it's just a matter of time before San Diego sees an earthquake on a similar scale.

But Dr. Abbott said San Diegans should not be overly alarmed, just educated and prepared.
