The healing waters of Kearny Mesa

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - The healing waters of Kearny Mesa can be found inside an unadorned building on Chesapeake Drive. Just open your mind, free your body and step inside the chamber.

"It's 10 inches of water with 1,000 pounds of magnesium sulfate, better known as pharmaceutical grade Epsom salts," Mark Lesika of Float Spa said.

Float Spa San Diego offers you a chance to heal, meditate and rejuvenate suspended in water that is about as buoyant as the Dead Sea.

"Once the doors close it feels like an entire universe around you because it's pitch black," Mark said.

Wait, did I remember to log off my computer? I wonder if my butt looks big in this swimsuit. Wow, this is what it must be like to be in the womb. Next time I'm asking for a womb with a view. Calgon, take me away.

Although Float Spa San Diego doesn't offer any guarantees that a normal hourlong session will change your life, there are studies that claim the chamber does offer some benefits.

"A lot of what they believe is that it raises the endorphins, the natural feel-good hormones in the body, because the body for the first time in a long time is able to relax 100%. There's no feeling, no sensation of any kind," Mark said.

In this day and age of faster, louder, more annoying, Float Spa San Diego offers salty solace of tranquility in a tank.
