One injured in La Jolla condo complex fire

LA JOLLA, Calif. (CBS 8) - A senior citizen was injured in a condominium complex fire that left 11 residents temporarily homeless Friday, officials said.

The fire started at about 9:45 a.m. in the 5300 block of La Jolla Boulevard, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze within about 20 minutes. One condo was extensively damaged, and several other units in the three-story building sustained water and smoke damage.

A 72-year-old resident suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the City News Service.

The fire displaced 11 residents, who were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
