Fantography exhibit - Fans share favorite photos

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Baseball is a game of great plays, breathtaking highlights and fantastic finishes, none of which are currently on display at the downtown central library.

"There's no game action in the photographs. These are photographs that fans have taken of their baseball experience," Andy Strasberg of Fantography said.

Strasberg has assembled an intimate array of fan family photos.

"It's all about the view that the fan has through the lens of their camera," Andy said.

Andy has even unearthed some treasures from his own photo albums. The Fantrography exhibit will be on display through the end of February, but for Andy, collecting fan photos is part of a bigger game plan.

"What I'm trying to do is harvest those photographs so I can archive them," he said. "It's my goal, my desire to eventually have them published in a book, 500, 750 pictures from all around the country."

The photographs were never reflected in the box score, nor did they ever appear in the sports pages. They remain in the dog-eared scrapbooks of our youth and live in our memory of the pure joy of the game.
