A Horse Small Enough to Fit in a Car Seat

(CBS) - A newborn miniature horse took its diminutive species to a whole new level last week.

On Friday in Barnstead, N.H., Einstein, a pinto Stallion was born, weighing in at 6 pounds and standing just 14 inches high - a possible world record for a lightweight foal.

According to Judy Smith, who has bred miniature horses for more than 20 years, the average newborn mini-horse is 21 inches tall and weighs 18 pounds. "He's not a preemie. He was born three days after his due date," Smith told the Union Leader newspaper. Smith added that Einstein's body was in proportion.
