Thousands of runners rock out for a cause

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - More than 30,000 San Diegans laced up their running shoes for the annual Rock and Roll marathon.

Dozens of bands and hundreds of fans lined the 26.2 route that went through Balboa Park, Mission Valley and finished at Sea World.

While some runners were going for personal bests, others were running for those in need.

The marathon raises thousand of dollars for the leukemia and lymphoma society.

Richard Limo of Kenya won the race, running the track in two hours, nine minutes and 56 seconds.

Limo took home a $25,000 prize.
