High-risk sex offender now roaming downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - There's a CrimeFighters alert Thursday for people who live and frequent downtown San Diego: a high-risk sex offender is now part of the community.

Daniel Roy Zetterhold registered with San Diego police as a transient. It means he could be anywhere in the downtown area.

Zetterholm served 13 years in prison for molesting a child under 14 in the 90s. He is not on parole or probation, and he is also not required to wear a GPS bracelet.

"He has previously been categorized as a sexually violent predator. Although he is not currently in that status, law enforcement is treating him as a sexually violent predator and we will continue to monitor him," SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.

Zetterholm is required to give San Diego police his address once he finds a place to live.
