Local elementary students run in memory of Chelsea King

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Local students laced up their shoes to run in memory of murdered Poway teen Chelsea King Thursday.

The Chelsea King Invitational Mile was held at Lindbergh Schweitzer Elementary School in Clairemont.

Sixty students from 15 schools took part in the event.

Race organizers say they want to honor King and the qualities she exemplified.

King was a long distance runner and honor student.
